Photography

Photography continues to be a foundational medium from which most of my other works spring. Growing up, there was always a camera nearby. But photography was for recording memories, later in college it became a surveying tool. It wasn’t until I began to roam somewhat aimlessly around the state during the end of my college career, and until I had been away from the beauty of rural landscape for some time, did I start pointing the camera artistically. My most simple and difficult goal with photography is simply to stop and make the time to take a picture. Once I start to see the beauty in the world around me, I often can’t stop until the battery is dead or the camera is full. (I will openly confess here, I know what I can do with a photograph once it is in the computer, and am comfortable using this tool to make my photographic work more elegantly display the beauty that was felt when the photo was captured.)
